DOMESTIC VIOLENCE/ORDERS OF PROTECTION/NO STALKING/NO CONTACT

An order of protection is a court order that limits the scope of the abuser’s contact/communication with the abused. Such limitations can even be a complete prohibition of the abuser’s contact/communication with the abuser in its entirety. The purpose of an order of protection or Stalking no contact order is to protect those physically abused and/or harassed.

More often than not, orders of protection and Stalking no contact orders are matters treated on an expedited/emergency basis, and without notice to the alleged abuser.

Due to the severity of consequences that can result from these types of matters, it is paramount for individuals either subject to such abuse, or conversely, accused of such abuse, to consult with an experienced advocate to help manage the complexities of this process with an eye toward a desired result.
